Denizli is surrounded by beautiful mountains that no one, except for shepherds, ever venture into. Apparently the wildlife stays out also, because the mountains are silent.

Turks often refer to each other as abla (sister) or abi (brother). It gives you a sense of companionship. Like calling someone in the US bro, but better.

Turkish students work. All the time. If they aren't being tested for the 5th time that week, they have after-school class (dershane). My host sister joked with me once that if she worked this hard and lived in the US, she could get into Princeton.
